About Me
Picture this: It’s the beginning of COVID, I’m knee-deep in accounting textbooks, juggling managing a bar, and feeling like I’m barely treading water in a sea of career uncertainty. Accounting? It just didn’t click with who I am. I loved the business side, but something was missing.
Then came the plot twist: a Professor Messer video on Security+. Blind luck quickly turned what started as idle curiosity into an all-consuming passion. Suddenly, everything changed. I was hooked. It was like finding the missing piece of a puzzle I didn’t even know I was solving. I made the decision to go all in this path that seemed like it finally said, “Hey, this is where you belong.”
Little did I know, this would be the second-best decision of my life. (I’ll keep you guessing about the first!)
Fast forward almost five years, and what a ride it’s been! I’ve worn many hats:
- Help desk and system admin at a staffing company
- Network admin in the fast-paced world of management consulting
- Building out a security program at an investment management firm
These roles weren’t just jobs; they were crash courses in real-world IT and cybersecurity. They surrounded me with great teams, and blessed me with fantastic mentors. And because I apparently thrive on chaos, I decided to pursue my bachelor’s in information security at the same time. Sleep became optional, coffee became essential.
Why am I telling you all this? Because I firmly believe that to understand where a person is going, you need to know where they’ve been. My journey isn’t just a series of career moves—it’s the foundation of who I am as a cybersecurity professional, each move has allowed me to learn new essential skills to get where I want to be.
But it’s more than that. I’m sharing all of this, because I’m genuinely passionate about what I’ve learned along the way. This blog isn’t just a showcase of my projects or a bulletin board for my latest tech obsessions. Each post is a jumping-off point. A chance to dig deeper, to challenge assumptions, and to explore the fascinating puzzle of cybersecurity and emerging tech.
Perhaps you’ll stumble upon your “second-best decision” right here. Because if my winding path has taught me anything, it’s that sometimes, the most transformative decisions come when we least expect them. So come on in, explore, and let’s see where this tech journey takes us together.
